Vintage Valentino Gray Birdseye Blazer, Late 1980s to Early 1990s
A single-breasted blazer in a fine gray birdseye weave with darker flecks, so it reads as a soft gray from a distance. It has a notched lapel, padded shoulders and a long, easy body. Jetted hip pockets and an angled welt chest pocket keep the front clean. Two muted taupe-gray buttons close it.
Valentino Garavani opened his house in Rome in 1960 and made his name on precise, polished couture. The V emblem on the interior label is his signature mark, and it appears on his tailoring through the 1980s and early 1990s, when the house extended its restraint into structured separates like this one.
