Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello Black Sweetheart Glove-Sleeve Gown, Pre-Fall 2023

A floor-length column gown in a matte, fluid black, built on an internal corset with wiring along the neckline that holds the strapless sweetheart clean as it drops to a deep centre notch. The bodice is gathered at an empire seam below it. Fabric draped from the bust falls in a loose arc along each arm, gathering into a fitted opera-length glove cut in one with the drape, leaving the shoulders and collarbone bare. The skirt runs straight to the floor, unadorned.

Look 50 of Anthony Vaccarello's Pre-Fall 2023 collection for Saint Laurent, shown in the lookbook with a single bangle and a drop earring. It carries the house's long-running argument that black evening dress needs nothing beyond line and drape.
