Vintage I.J. Fox Brown Single-Button Mink Fur Coat, 1980s

A knee-length coat in dark brown mink, with the pelts worked in staggered sections that deepen in tone from chest to hem. A soft shawl collar frames the neck, and the shoulders are padded over long sleeves. A single large engraved button in bronze-tone metal closes it at the waist.

I.J. Fox was a New York furrier whose designs in the 1940s were drawn by illustrators including James Montgomery Flagg and Russell Patterson. The broad shoulder and generous volume here belong to the 1980s.
