Vintage Escada by Margaretha Ley Silk Floral Jacket, Late 1980s-Early 1990s

A long jacket in 100% silk, the ground woven in a subtle textural weave and printed with soft, watercolor-toned florals — a characteristic Escada composition from the years when Margaretha Ley was still directing the house. The silhouette is lean and notch-lapelled, closing with gold buttons the full length of the front. Made in Germany.

Margaretha Ley co-founded Escada in Munich in 1976 alongside her husband Wolfgang Ley, and served as its sole creative director until her death in 1992. Under her direction, the house became synonymous with a particular kind of confident femininity — vibrant colour, deliberate print layering, and quality construction that positioned Escada among the most commercially successful European fashion houses of the 1980s. This jacket dates to the final years of her tenure.
