Vintage Chloé by Karl Lagerfeld Black Harvest Print Midi Dress, Fall/Winter 1977
A collector-worthy piece from Karl Lagerfeld's Fall/Winter 1977 collection for Chloé, made when he was the house's sole designer, a post he had held since 1975 after joining in 1964. It carries everything the period is remembered for: fluid silk, a painterly print and an unstructured cut worn loose over the body.
A sheer midi dress in a black ground printed with a botanical harvest of flowers, fruit and leaves in slate blue, dusty rose and mauve, with beetles, butterflies and snails worked between them. The high round neck is gathered at the front, and the full-cut sleeves narrow to fitted cuffs, each closed with three glossy, round black buttons. The bodice is gathered to an empire seam, and the skirt falls from it in narrow pleats.
Silk chiffon. Unlined, made to be layered over a slip or other pieces. Made in France. Chloé label, marked size 44; cut generously to fall loosely over the body. Good condition: no visible stains or damage, all buttons present.
Measurements (flat): length 45 in; under bust at the empire seam 14 in.
